More about this product
More about this product
Meaning “roasted tea” in English, H?jicha Tea is a unique brew made by roasting bancha leaves over high heat. The resulting brew features slightly nutty and charred tasting notes with a mild smokiness and amber appearance. The product of the distinctively Japanese practice of letting nothing go to waste (and the innovative thinking of one Japanese merchant),a Kyoto trader in the 1920s experimented with roasting leftover bancha leaves and stems over glowing charcoal to create a new tea that minimised excess waste - H?jicha was born and is now one of the most popular teas in Japan!
H?jicha Tea is best enjoyed whilst curled up with a book and blanket in the evening. This tea is perfect as is - the delicate toasty flavours in this brew may be marred by the addition of milk and sweeteners.
