Product FAQs

Are The Tea Centre's teas suitable for Vegans & Vegetarians?

A majority of our teas are suitable for vegans and vegetarians, and contain natural flavourings with no animal products used in production.

Some of our teas containing add ins such as chocolate drops and brittle do contain dairy, so for this reason, we recommend checking the allergen information on the product page of any tea you're interested in trying.

We list all allergens (nuts & dairy) and whether a tea is vegan-friendly and gluten free on each page.

What flavours are used in The Tea Centre's teas?

The Tea Centre uses a minimal amount of nature-identical flavour in some of its black and green tea fusions. Nature-identical flavour is essence that we synthesise in a lab so that it’s identical to those found in nature. A common misconception is that nature-identical flavour is used to mask a poorly blended tea. The opposite is the case at The Tea Centre!

There exists some natural essences in the world that are simply impossible to collect on a commercial scale or can only be extracted at the detriment of wildlife and their environment. When this is the case, The Tea Centre will use nature-identical flavour to ensure that the tea you drink has optimal flavour, is eco-friendly, has no contaminates, and comes at an affordable price point. Using nature-identical flavour also creates consistency in the taste of our tea across different seasons.

Does tea 'expire'?

Tea doesn't necessarily expire, however it may lose some of its character and intensity over time.

If stored correctly in a cool, dark, and dry place, you can expect to get up to 2 years our of your tea leaves at optimum freshness - that is, if you don't drink it all by then!

We recommend storing your tea in airtight tins or glass containers that are hidden away from direct sunlight to ensure your tea remains at it's best.

How much caffeine is in tea?

The caffeine content in your cup of tea can vary depending on the type of tea and amount used.

Black tea typically contains between 40-50mg of caffeine per cup, and Green tea typically contains between to 30-40mg of caffeine per cup (based on a 200ml cup of tea) - For comparison, a cup of coffee typically contains 80-100mg.

For caffeine sensitive tea lovers, we recommend checking out our range of Decaf Teas, Herbal Teas, Fruit Tisanes, and Rooibos Teas, as these are naturally caffeine free alternatives to Black and Green teas.

How do I brew my tea?
