Celebrate Mum with Tea this Mother's Day

Let’s face it. Mums are amazing people, and we don’t recognise that often enough. How many times in life has it been our mothers that have made the world a little brighter, kinder, or less daunting? They give so much of themselves to their families that it’s sometimes a wonder that there’s anything left just for them. So, with Mother’s Day fast approaching, why not make plans to give a little back and say “thanks Mum”.

Taking a moment to show you care doesn’t have to be an elaborate affair. Sometimes, simple is best. Why not take around some tea and cake or bickies? If baking is not your strong suit, or if you’re a bit time poor, a bought cake is perfectly fine. For bonus points, why not match the sweet treats with a nice tea?

The chocolate mud cake is a classic choice for celebrating special occasions, but it will need something bold to stand up to that chocolate-y goodness. As a suggestion, why not try Dimakusi Assam or an Irish Breakfast to cut through that sweetness and give some oomph to the chocolate.

But what if a mud cake is a bit heavy? Not to worry! How about a carrot cake? It’s lighter and still full of flavour. Plus (if you’re feeling cheeky) you could claim that you’re just following mum’s advice to eat your veggies. We often forget how well carrot goes with spice, so why not brew mug of Masala Chai or add a delightful touch of vanilla with Tea for Sunday.

Maybe you think classic is king? Then a good old fashioned sponge cake could be the way to go. And if keeping it classic, maybe pair it with an ever-dependable breakfast blend. English Breakfast or Scottish Breakfast would both be excellent companions, especially with a drop of milk.

Whatever you choose, just remember to take a moment this Mother’s Day to say “Thanks Mum”.
